Vonage recently launched the “Vonage World” which gives the users the facility to make unlimited calls across the globe to almost 60 countries. It covers nearly two-thirds of the world’s population and all you have got to pay is $24.99 a month.
There are speculations that Vonage is busy working on an application for the iPhone and has proposed their application to Apple. This would be phenomenal news for the iPhone users who would have the luxury to use the application along with the Vonage’s World’s global unlimited plan. The innumerable iPhone users and the large base of Vonage users will make the largest deployed WiFi VoIP phone on the planet.
Vonage Companion which is the present SIP client of Vonage uses unique technology which helps to share the exact same SIP credentials with the ATA device which you have connected to the cordless phone system at your home. This enables you to accept calls on your PC and also on your regular phone. The application would no longer require you to set up call forward to your home phone when you are on the move. It will also allow the users to make any outbound calls with the caller ID of their home phone number and will also ensure that you can use the unlimited amount your VoIP minutes.
However, the main concern would be whether Apple gives a nod to Vonage application to work over 3G as they have not allowed it for any VoIP application so far. The Vonage iPhone application is expected to have voicemail playback, block caller and features to send voicemail and voicemail push notification.
