Around 5,000 applications would get affected due to this new content policy of Apple. Trudy Muller, the Apple spokeswoman said that the content that is found unfitting and receives customer complaints is first reviewed and if the applications are found to contain any obnoxious material they are removed from the Application store and a request is made to the developer to make the desired changes so that it can be dispersed by Apple.

Last Friday saw as many as 4,000 applications being taken away from the Apple Store. The new Application Store policy of Apple would now not consider any application that imply sexual content in any way or include images of women and men in bikinis, pictures of sexual connotations or skin or content

Besides removing the objectionable applications, Apple has also taken steps like hiding the screenshots of the applications that have high parental controls rating than the ratings of iTunes, in its initiative to control adult content. However, there are still many applications available which have sexual content and are yet to be removed like the Playboy’s application that has been overlooked by the purge but the constant purging by Apple suggests that it would not be available for too long.
