There is a new and happening news in the iPhone world and that is that iPhone is about to get Qualcomm’s FLO TV Mobile TV (AAPL, QCOM). Though Qualcomm’s FLO TV had a slow start, it is expected to hit the market by coming on iPhones. At present FLO TV is available only on some selected phones with a special chip. In the U.S. market alone only 9 phones have Qualcomm’s FLO TV.
The new iPhone 3.0 accessory APIs will feature FLO TV that will offer a small antenna or chip accessory that can be plugged in the iPhone or iPod touch to allow the users to watch FLO TV. Till now the date of launch of Qualcomm’s FLO TV on iPhone has not been fixed but it will be launched soon.
FLO TV plans to cover big areas to reach about 200 million people by the end of the year. To provide the FLO TV on iPhones, AT&T and Verizon might charge $15 extra per month from the users.
