Jailbreak
The legendary Nate True has done it again folks. Prepare to go through the steps to jailbreak your iPhone yet again so you can truly enjoy all of the features it has to offer. In less than 10 days, Nate True and his compatriots managed not only to jailbreak the iPhone, but to release a windows and mac based tool for public use as well. So if you’ve been following the iPhone mod scene and this isn’t your first jailbreak, then your in luck, as currently this will only work on iPhones that had been jailbroken in their 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 state.
For those of you new to the concept of jailbreaking your iPhone, I suggest you wait. Although these hackers have managed to utilize the iPhone technology far better than Apple has, you may end up with a shiny new brick instead of an unlocked phone. With the SDK being released for the iPhone within the next month, you should be able to purchase most of these features. Although currently offered free by the hacking community, good luck bringing that in to the Genius Bar if you have a problem that you can’t exactly fix yourself.
It’s always interesting to see how fast hackers manage to circumnavigate the intentions of the original developer. The cat and mouse game between Apple and the hacking community won’t be put to sleep by the iPhone SDK release. Most likely, it will open up several new doors.
